These solo unaccompanied compositions are catalysts for a reform woodwinder movement: the return of the rustic depth of the very old days – the primeval days. The way of the Underworld Woodwinder.

The core here is thick tone, solid rhythmic integrity, gravity, sense of pulse and forward motion.  Many of these are earthy blues pieces.  The strong sense of heavy pulse and expressiveness needs to come from deep within you, the player.  These pieces are specially designed to help the player cultivate a robust connection with their instrument and its roots in both the natural world and the devotional practices of early hominids.  An animistic layer of depth at the root of all woodwinding, a subterranean foundation from which you establish your own personal tone.
